This command brings up a File Information window, where you can change information for an individual file.
There are 2 ways you can invoke this command:
(1) By double-clicking a file's entry in the list. This will show, and allow you to change, information about that one file.
(2) Selecting a group of files, then selecting "File Info" ([Command]-I) from the "List" menu. Information on each file is shown in sequence; to go onto the next file, click "Continue", to stop viewing file information, click "Stop".
A dialog showing data about a file is displayed. This information includes:
• The file's name
• The file's type and creator
• The file's lock status
• The file's complete pathname
• The name of the file's creator (if any).
• Date and time of the file's creation and last modification.
• The text of the file's Finder "Get Info" comment (if any).
• The file's Finder flags:
From this dialog, you can change all or none of the following:
• Filename
• Type and Creator
• Lock status
• Finder flags
• Get Info comment
To change file information, type the new information in place of the old - or click the "Locked" or "Finder Flags" controls. The "Update Info" button will become active. Clicking "Update Info" will make your changes permanent; click "Reset Info" to reset to the file's current status.
Changes made to file information in the File Info window CANNOT be undone!
The button named "Peek" allows you to peek at a file's contents. See the section "FILE PEEK" below.
When the File Info window is frontmost, some menu options are changed:
• "Delete Batch" becomes "Delete File"
• "Move Batch" becomes "Move File "
• "Copy Batch" becomes "Copy File"
Selecting one of these will Delete/Move/Copy the single file shown in the File Info window. These commands are NOT UNDOABLE!
